Ben is trapped in an airtight room that’s filling with water, and Zoey is confronted by Amanda (Deborah Ann Woll) - somehow still alive after apparently falling to her death in the upside down room in the first movie.

Characters die abruptly, sometimes even suspiciously. Everyone else there reveals they also survived a Minos room before - they realize this is the titular “tournament of champions.”įrom there, things move so quickly that nobody, including the audience, will ever really have a chance to catch their breath. So they take a ride on the subway from there, and it turns out their train car is an escape room. She convinces Ben to go to New York with her - by car, so we avoid the escape room from the very end of the last movie for now - and they investigate what looks a lot like the kind of place Minos would have an escape room, but now it’s empty.

"What we're going to find out is that though we had an insular view in the first movie of just Zoey's story, what we're going to realise is that on any given day, there are multiple games happening all around the world," he teased. Robitel has confirmed to CinemaBlend that the sequel will pick up directly from this cliffhanger, with Zoey and Ben about to realise they're not the only ones being manipulated by Minos. A shadowy figure then reveals that he wants it ready for Zoey and Ben's flight. Instead, it's a simulation of a new escape room created by Minos that has a 4% chance of survival. We then cut to a plane crash, but it's not Zoey and Ben's flight. Ben agrees to go with her to the headquarters of Minos in New York City. She doesn't let it go though and six months later, Zoey meets up with Ben again and shows him everything she's found out about Minos, including the fact that the deaths of the other players have been covered up as other accidents. Zoey leads the police to the building (run by a company called Minos), but it's now deserted and apparently there's no evidence to back up Zoey's story. She saves Ben, with the two of them killing the Gamemaster. The $10,000 prize is all a big con too and as the Gamemaster tries to kill him to prevent the secret getting out, Zoey reappears having survived the toxic gas earlier. In the first movie, it's revealed that the six players were picked because they were sole survivors of various incidents, including a plane crash and a carbon monoxide leak.īen initially thinks he's the sole survivor of the escape room and meets the Gamemaster (Yorick van Wageningen) who tells him that some rich people are betting on the game and watching it all happen. Escape Room 2 plot: How was Tournament of Champions set up? Don't go expecting any returns though from the likes of Daredevil's Deborah Ann Woll or Reaper's Tyler Labine, unless it's somehow revealed that they didn't die in the escape room and survived.
